Favorable context. Works well in a clear trend on D1 and H4. Avoid in a tight range or with repeated fakeouts.
The pullback to the EMA 50 is one of the clearest strategies for entering in the direction of a trend. The principle: in an uptrend, you wait for price to pull back until it touches the EMA 50, which acts as a dynamic support, then you buy when price resumes. The reverse applies in a downtrend (the EMA becomes resistance, you sell on the bounce). The method is selective (you only enter when the setup is clean), but when it appears, the risk/reward ratio is comfortable and the chart reading is direct.
Why it works. The EMA 50 is followed by a huge number of professional traders, which makes it a self-fulfilling level: when price reaches it in a clear trend, many players enter at the same spot, which creates the bounce. You don’t guess. You read an observable collective behavior. It’s a skill transferable to all the other strategies you’ll learn next: understanding self-fulfilling levels will serve you everywhere.
For whom and when. This strategy suits beginners who want a first clean method, applicable on D1 or H4, on the major pairs (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY) or XAU/USD. It assumes a readable trend. In a ranging market (price oscillating horizontally) or a trend transition, you wait: it’s not the right moment for this method.
If a SINGLE criterion is missing, you wait.
The stop loss goes below the pullback’s low (above the high in a downtrend), with a margin of 5 to 10 pips to absorb noise. The reasoning: if price breaks that low, your trend reading is invalidated. You have to exit.
The take profit aims for a minimum R/R of 1:2, measured from the entry → SL distance. Example: SL at 20 pips → TP at 40 pips. You can aim for 1:3 if a major resistance/support zone lies further out and offers that target without forcing.
Be honest about the ratio
1:2 is the reference standard for this strategy. Be honest with yourself. Over your first few hundred trades, a win rate below 50% is normal. In that case, aim instead for 1:2.5 or 1:3 when the market allows it without forcing. What makes the method mathematically solid isn’t the magic 1:2: it’s the gap between your R/R and your win rate. The lower your win rate during the learning phase, the more you compensate with a higher R/R. Your journal will tell you, trade after trade, where you really stand.
Capital 200 USD · risk per trade 1% = 2 USD.
Setup: EUR/USD H4 in an uptrend, a pullback to the EMA 50, a confirmation candle at 1.0875.
Position size. On a EUR/USD micro-lot (0.01), 1 pip is worth about 0.10 USD.
Size = 2 USD ÷ (20 × 0.10 USD) = 1 micro-lot exactly.
Not spectacular on a single trade, and that’s precisely the strength of the method. This strategy isn’t designed to make you rich in a few weeks. It’s designed to become a tool you master and apply with discipline over years. That’s the real perspective.
Take a beginner who starts with 200 USD. They master this strategy and a few others. They apply it with discipline, over years. They only grow their capital once their method is seasoned and their statistics are solid. At the end of that road, they can have built an activity that genuinely changes their situation. Not tomorrow. Not in six months. But over the long run, yes. It’s a real possibility, and few activities offer it with such a modest starting capital. It all depends on your discipline and your long-term commitment.

Context 1 of 3
EUR/USD H4. A clean uptrend, a 3rd pullback that touches the EMA 50, a green confirmation candle. What do you do?
Read the EMA's slope, the position of price, and the candle that follows the touch.
Step 1: Does the setup apply here?
Key takeaway: a clear trend, a pullback that touches the EMA 50, a confirmation candle, entry. Stop loss below the low, take profit at the R/R your win rate justifies (1:2 minimum, 1:2.5 or 1:3 while you’re starting out). 1% maximum risk per trade. This strategy is your first real trader’s tool, and you’ll test it on demo, refine it with your journal, and keep it or adjust it depending on what your own statistics tell you. The craft is built this way, tool by tool, month after month.
We build the library tool by tool. This strategy is the pilot: the next ones will round out your arsenal with other market setups and other timeframes.
